My son just received his appointment today to USMA! He chose SAP scholarship at MMI this year and will be in the class of 2015. We didn't know how this would all go but today has made all of the wondering worth it. At MMI they have a very good program there with a very involved coordinator who oversees all of prospective cadets during their application process. We "knew" he would get in but getting to see that paper today was AMAZING. If you have a chance to go this route, don't be discouraged! You can do it! :thumb:

Congrats to you and your son! I totally agree that if a candidate is offered a prep scholarship from the AOG they should not hesitate in accepting it.

Back in 2006 my son was offered a civil prep spot. He choose NMMI since we are on the west coast. He sucessfully completed his year at NMMI and became part of the class of 2011. I believe he would have done fine as a direct admit to USMA but that extra year gave him some experience and confidence. During Beast he already knew some of the basics (shining shoes, making his bed, etc) and could help his classmates more. He is graduating this May in the top 15% of his class and I'm not sure he would be ranked so high without that prep year.
