If USAFA is not considering a medical waiver for me is that it for my chances of gaining an appointment? I found out from the head of selections but have no official correspondence through the portal about a TWE.

Nothing is impossible, but you seem to appreciate the significance of that information.

Is there anyway to change their mind? (for a lock of better words) For example, would a phone call open any possibilities?

Probably your best plan of action, should it ultimately be the TWE, would be to understand if your DQ is something that would change with time, or a procedure. No need to discuss here, but some are a matter of not enough time has passed since XX, for example. Or, if its a case of there only being so many waivers perused in a year for your DQ. Another thing to get a handle on would be if it’s something another route (ie AFROTC) would accept. Or another service (ie Army). Get all the info you can about your specific case.

That assumes the reason for not seeking a waiver is related to the medical condition and not general competitiveness of the candidate.

Yes, that was the assumption I made. Good to point that out.

My DQ was actually due to a clerical issue, and I believe it is a DQ that not many if any waivers are granted for. Anything I can do?
