FYI- I have been accepted into the Foundation program for NMMI over the 2012-2013 school year. Just curious

From their FAQ
https://www.usna.com/Page.aspx?pid=484

"Your record was reviewed by the Naval Academy Admissions Board and recommended to the Foundation as worthy of consideration for sponsorship. The Board, of course, does not know how successfully you may compete on your nomination slate (which will determine your ultimate potential for an appointment this year), but it certainly considered you as someone whom they would like to see come to USNA if qualified. Over 200 names are typically forwarded by the Admissions Board to the Foundation each year. We anticipate being authorized to sponsor only 50-60 candidates for USNA in the coming year."

I have since received a nomination from my congresswoman, but with the Foundation offer initiated by the board is my chance of 2016 gone? I wouldn't mind the extra year to prepare myself for the academics. I'm wondering if anyone has received a Foundation scholarship offer and then a real offer of appointment in the same year. Any help would be appreciated.

Accept the Foundation offer. In some cases, USNA will later decide to offer NAPS/Foundation people a direct appointment. They have emphasized that the fact you have accepted a NAPS/Foundation offer does NOT lessen your chances of later receiving a direct appointment. IOW, there is no downside to accepting Foundation if you are OK with that process.

A few years ago had one candidate receive a Foundation offer, followed a few weeks later by a NAPS offer, then around the first of June with a direct appointment! Lots of good news!

USNA and BGO are 100% accurate!! :thumb:
(And I'm not even a USNA guy, although I do have an offer for the class of 1983)

But what they're telling you is precisely the same we tell USAFA folks...the "jist" of which is: if they're willing to spend money on YOU...don't you think they're serious about you eventually ending up in an ice-cream suit??? :yllol:

USAFA ALO (think B&GO)
USAFA '83
USNA '83 Appointee

I have already accepted the Foundation offer and thank you for replying back so quickly. Who knows maybe there's still hope?
