Founders Day Dinner

Hello, I was hoping someone may be able to fill me in on the Founders Day Dinner? My DS is a candidate for USMA and received an invitation. Do these invitations normally go out to all potential candidates in the state? Should my DS attend? We have another commitment that day but if this is something he should definitely go to, we will work something out.
I would appreciate any information. Thank you.
 
It was a chance for my son to meet some of the other new appointees (appointments were earlier his year). I was able to get to know some of the people in the local West Point community. It was something we chose to attend, and would have had no impact had we not attended. For us, that was back in 2008 (before West Point on facebook) and I was able to meet several SA forum parents.

WP Alumni Founders Day Dinner

Founders Day Dinner is an event that is sponsored by your local WP alumni group. They are extending an invite to join them. Often the alumni are FFR reps in your area, who may know your son is a strong candidate and others who have or will be given an offer. I don’t know if something is coming in the mail. But if your DS wants to network, rub elbows with those who can help, I would attend.

Sounds like something that would be good to attend. Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I've come to count on this forum these last few months and I really appreciate everyone's help and support.

DS got an invitation too. I thought it was a general send out but he has now received two emails and a voice mail message. He has a play-off game that day and won't be able to attend. Too bad; it sounds interesting.

Our son got a similar invite yesterday from his MALO. We are trying to not read more into it than it is, but I was supposed to be traveling for work that weekend and am now going to change my travel plans.

When you are so anxious to hear, and on edge for announcement day, you tend to grasp at everything for encouragement. If DS doesn't see the BFE on 2/27, the uncertainty waiting for the TWE will be stressful, even with his backup plans in place.

BTW we are in SW Ohio.
