This is my first ever post, so hopefully I am doing this right!!

I have recently been invited to a West Point Founders Day Dinner. From what I hear it is somewhat of a closed event. I am 3q'ed with 3 Nominations, but have not received an appointment yet. Is this invitation a good sign? Or am I reading into this event too much? I am very anxious to hear any news, as I am sure many others are as well.

Any insight or speculation is welcome and greatly appreciated!

I'm guessing on this but it may depend on where you live. I can only relate our own experience. Last year, DS was invited to local WP Founders Day Dinner and they only invited those that had appointments. We didn't know that until we arrived. Having said that, local USNA had there own version of a spring luncheon that mirrored that but the invitees where those that were both appointed AND nominated and didn't know that until we arrived at that as well. Not sure this helps you much. Sorry.

Last year, my DS was fortunate to receive his appointment in January. He was invited to the local Founders Day dinner in March. The Commandant was there to speak. Several other nominated (but not appointed) candidates were there also. I kind of thought the Commandant might hand out an appointment or two since he was there, but that didn't happen.

Don't read too much into it. But enjoy, it was a fun evening. Good Luck.

My DS (c/o 2012) was invited in 2008. He already had his appt....several did not. We saw many of those young people through the years, but not all of them.

I agree about not reading too much into it. It's VERY hard when you are waiting for a decision not to do this, but for your sanity, please try. Every email from the RC, FFR, etc..had us wondering if there were a hidden meaning. In the end, DS was pleasantly surprised by the MOC call. Hopefully that will be the case for you as well.

All the best to those waiting to hear!

I am a junior who just applied to SLE, I got invited but I am pretty sure it is because my FFR really likes me.

I was invited to FD Dinner by email yesterday (Appointed to C/O 2019), and it is addressed as follows:

"Dear Accepted and Offered Members of the West Point Class of 2019,"

Further along in the email it says:

"If you have accepted your offer or intend to accept your offer, you are most welcome to join us with your parents and family members."

Take that as you wish. I don't know if emails to different candidates were written differently, but that's how mine was worded.

Did your invitation address your candidate status. My WP society invited both appointees and competitive candidates in our area. We clear stated in our invitation that the invitation itself had no bearing on the candidates status.

Founders Day dinners are put on by the local West Point Society (WP alums) and they can invite whomever they want.

I did not receive a formal invitation through the mail. Rather, I received an email inviting me to attend from a family friend that happens to be a retired Army General.
