I am currently a sophomore in a civilian college and am hoping to receive an appointment to USAFA. I just completed my online application and getting ready to turn in my nomination packages to my senators and congressman, and also have a presidential nomination. Next semester I will be returning home to take classes at a community college (not as expensive) and also work and was wondering which classes I should take.

I was planning on majoring in Biology at my current University, but I believe I would like to switch my major to some sort of engineering (as I enjoy math and science) at the academy... I am also thinking of learning a new language! At my college now I have taken:
Intermediate Intensive Spanish
English
Chem 100
Bio100
Organic Chemistry
Evolution
Genetics
Economics
Calc 100
Observational Painting
Elementary Computer Programming

I was wondering
-which courses I should be taking next semester to prepare more for the academy
-which languages are beneficial to air force for me to take

USAFA does have a Bio degree, if you want to go for that.

I would emphasize taking more math and science classes (physics, chem, more calc, etc).

A writing class may help, as well. You would be surprised how many cadets have weak writing skills...and almost every class has papers assigned (even math).

After that, whatever you want to do well in...

especially if you're considering engineering. Load up on all the tech courses. Pick a language you like and study it - but it may not be the one you are assigned should you become a USAFA cadet.

another thing to consider

I know you said you wanted to switch to a technical major here, but if you want to do something with a language, I would try to study one of the strategic languages offered by the academy if your community college offers it as well.

Language

My son is a first year cadet who took Spanish throughout high school. He was tested at the academy, and was placed in Russian. When he asked about changing to another language, he was given the option of Russian, Chinese, Japanese, and Arabic. If you are considering a new language, I would recommend one of those.

You can also continue the Spanish if that is what you really like. Our son had four years of Spanish in HS, and tested very high on the language placement test. He was given choices for languages, but chose to continue with Spanish. He will graduate in May with a minor in Spanish.
