Doolie question: If I want to give a small candy goody bag to some upperclassman as a token of grattitude, that wouldn't be considered frat would it?

Thanks

I don't think that's going to go over very well. Just my opinion though. As a doolie, before recognition, the idea is to get as little attention as possible from upperclassmen.

They say "Fraternity". Frat boys don't like it when you call their Frat a "Frat". ;)

The idea being is that you dont call your country a ............
I am being serious, that was taught to us the first day we tried to join the fraternity

That's the sound of someone taking themselves too seriously. My old frat rat roommate and his herd said frat all the time, BTW.

I am sure every fraternity does things differently but the fact that THParent also mentioned it means that this is real thing among fraternities. That you heard other Greeks say it doesnt mean it isnt true or we take it too seriously. As much as fraternities are place for drinking and having a good time, we do have principles that we are taught and supposed to follow. That some dont, is a an issue for them. 32 years after graduating college, I still take the principles were taught as pledges seriously.

Sometimes I just like tossing a zinger in there for pure comic relief. Nothing more.
This thread is not about Fraternities (or Sororities, for that matter). Let's get back on the rails. :)

I admit to not really understanding what was on the table here, and how the comments related. Perhaps there were two asymptotic lines of discussion.

I thought we were talking about “fraternization,” in the military overly-familiar relationship sense, often shortened to “frat” in military jargon. As in, “she was put up on a frat charge.”

I was not a member of a social Greek group in college, nor was anyone in my family and few of my friends, so I did learn something from this discussion. That is always good.

super confused at how fraternities got involved, but as a fellow Doolie to another... It really depends. Like is this your Squadron CC, coach, element leader, or someone you want to thank for leadership, or is this a 3 dig you have a crush on?

It was part of a joke. The issue was fraternization and someone used the word fraternity and how they never say frat. Thats all it was.
