Gaming systems aren’t allowed, so any sort of board games or cards. I ended up making a chess board with some friends during basic out of cardboard and paper lolWhat do you wish Your family brought from home for you after BCT?

Agreed. I had my head shaved with the rest of the basics on I-Day. Kids with shaved heads still went through the line and had the clippers run over their head even though nothing came off. Some do. Personally, I would wait. The haircut is part of the I-day experience in my opinion.
As a fellow AFROTC reapplicant, how was the transition to the Academy? I’m hoping some of what I learned this year will be beneficial. For me it was ECs. I didn’t have a super diversified resume but being a reapplicant from AFROTC probably helped. Just remember it’s a holistic view, not just one thing they look at!
Let the introduction to “military mandatory fun” commence. How do football games work? As a freshman do you get to go to many games? Can you go to away games? Do you tailgate?
I think that the knowledge aspect was one of the biggest things I had better than other people. I’d say I knew about 40-50 percent of the quotes so that’s just that much less memorization you need to do. Little details like military customs and courtesies/drill help you lead your classmates as well.As a fellow AFROTC reapplicant, how was the transition to the Academy? Everyone goes. There are certain away games that you can go to if you do the appropriate paperwork. Unless you’re excused, your squadron will have a tailgate before each game. They are all day events so don’t expect to be able to do anything else that day.How do football games work? As a freshman do you get to go to many games? Can you go to away games? Do you tailgate?

If it's allowed, I would bring one for sure. They were allowed in the past, but I'm not sure what this years appointee booklet says. I just used a timex ironman classic 30 because I had it beforehand. As far as watches go, very affordableDo you recommend a wristwatch ? If so, any input on the kind ?

We bought my DD a cheap watch for basic because it wouldn’t need to charge and figured it would be caked in mud by the end of BCT. We then sent her Garmin for the academic year. Only stipulation is it has to have a neutral band.Do you recommend a wristwatch ? If so, any input on the kind ?
Neutral, as in black? I'm assuming nothing bright or flashy. We bought my DD a cheap watch for basic because it wouldn’t need to charge and figured it would be caked in mud by the end of BCT. We then sent her Garmin for the academic year. Only stipulation is it has to have a neutral band.
Black, and brown for sure. Any other colors I would check with air force standards on watches and wrists bands.Neutral, as in black? I'm assuming nothing bright or flashy.
Once you have accepted the appt, you will get an appointee handbook that will answer the majority of these questionsDo you recommend a wristwatch ? If so, any input on the kind ?
Yea All 8 -12 hours every home game.Let the introduction to “military mandatory fun” commence.
There is nothing like the sheer joy of mandatory fun. Even better than being voluntold to do something.Yea All 8 -12 hours every home game.
We laughed that one off the hardest changes for my DD was changing out her teal wristband to gray.Black, and brown for sure. Any other colors I would check with air force standards on watches and wrists bands.
Very interesting read. Thank you for posting this for us who have not yet heard anything back (fingers crossed that we will hear good news).Once you have accepted the appt, you will get an appointee handbook that will answer the majority of these questions
