Freshmen on AROTC Ranger Team

:thumb: Burned my hands at Fort Bragg since I didn't want to muddy my new footgear. Foolish. DS much stronger after first weeks with ropes during MSI year.
Good for your son. It's a big commitment (usually for only a portion of the school year) with a lot of benefits. He'll learn new skills, improve his physical condition and get exposure to many of the higher-performing cadets in his battalion.

If he's not used to rope climbing, he better get himself some gloves. The first time my son had to climb a rope in Ranger Challenge practice was the first time he'd ever climbed a rope, and he lacked technique. He reached the top purely on adrenaline and slid down leaving the skin of his palms and fingers on the rope.

do all nine on the nine man....in the gender neutral sense of man ;) do all activities in the competition?

DS is away for the wkend for this competition. Does anyone have any insight on what they do other than the one-rope bridge, ruck and pft? Does everyone do every segment?

From watching DS last year (the freshman), the entire team does everything -it is a team competition.
There was land nav- "shooting" and grenade throw-rope climb-ruck-a written test at the end. We missed part of it because it was difficult to find so that's not a complete list

Last year was a little different because of the govt strike. Ranger Challenge was a little later and colder so there was nothing done. with water.
It will be interesting to see what's different next weekend as we get to watch Three Rivers battalion Ranger Challenge team compete again.
