You look pretty solid, as far as I can tell. Maybe pull up the SAT score and GPA and go out for captain of the tennis team next year and I think you'll be in good shape!

Also, great to see another DoDDS kid on here! I'm a senior at Seoul American:biggrin:

You look like a promising NROTC candidate. Get some really good SAT scores, as the scholarship is getting more and more competitive. The average scores of those who received scholarships in 2008 were well above the minimum that the Navy shows on the ROTC website.

Work hard on the essays. Be sincere. Spellcheck, spellcheck. When you apply for the scholarship, get it all done early. The more times your application is reviewed by the scholarship board, the better chance you have to get a 4-year scholarship.

Just to give you a benchmark academically, I received a 4 year NROTC and a 4 year Type 2 AF scholarship with a 3.4 GPA, 1290 SAT, and a class rank of about 25%. I also had lots of extracurriculars, but you seem to have that pretty solid. If you're looking for a full ride I'd say you're on track, but those SATs are probably killing you. Plenty of time to study, though:wink:

Another benchmark for you: My son had a 1270 SAT, 3.6 GPA, in top 20% of class. Lots of community service and athletics; was JV captain in two sports; played one varsity sport, but not captain. Very active in his church and went on two mission trips.

His application was complete at the end of August, and he was offered his scholarship in early December.

He really is enjoying his NROTC experience. He goes to a very competitve engineering college. So, he is really working his butt off, carrying 20 credits a semester, which includes his military science classes.

So, keep up the good work! The journey ahead will be very exciting!
