Funded Visit to USMMA?

Does Kings Point do any expenses paid/reimbursed visits? Seems like most or all of the other academies do, at least for targeted recruit populations. But I haven't read of anything like that for KP.
Full disclosure, they've invited KY son for an athletic recruiting visit, which he will be doing, but no indication that any of that is paid for either.
 
I had the same question a year ago with my son who was also recruited. Not sure whether they pay for some recruits, but they did not for my son. After discussing the question directly with the coach though, they made it very clear that they wanted my son at the school and on the team and the visit was mainly for us to decide whether the school and team were also what we wanted. At the end of the visit, my son made a verbal commitment and the coaches were very helpful throughout the admissions process. So even though we had to foot the bill for the cost of the visit, in the long run it was money well spent as he is now at the school and on the team.

Our DS was also invited for a recruited athlete visit (overnight) but we paid for everything (flight, hotel). No guarantees he’ll make it through the application process but we thought it was $ well spent. The coach really knows him now, he has a better understanding of what life is like there, etc. My husband also got to have lunch w/ the coaches. Good luck 🍀!
 
My son is on a team there, and there is a parent booster club for the team to offset some costs, cover post-game meals, etc. and we pay for additional swag. So based on my experience I don't know that the coaches have any budget for travel. My son does NOT play football, but I would guess if you had a 4star QB out of a football hotbed interested in KP they might find the money.
 
KP is a NCAA D3 school. D3 does not have “official visits” as a HS student can have unlimited visits to D3 schools. Official visits are only for D1 and D2 schools. D3 cannot pay for recruit travel or lodging (unless you count sleeping on the floor of a current player’s dorm room). Coaches invite recruits for weekend overnight visits. Can’t be on campus longer than 48 hours. They will probably get a meal pass because every prospective student usually gets a meal pass when they visit a college.
 
Paid trip or not having a varsity coach looking favorably on admission is a lot of wind at someone’s back.

It may not be as strong a wind as at Navy Army AF D-1 schools but it could well make the difference between a yes or a no if it’s at all a close call.

This is just flat out wrong. NCAA D3 schools have official visits, and can fully fund them. Whether they have the money to do so is a different question.
 
Like so many of these "rules" it is rather convoluted. The NCAA rules state, with respect to Official Visits: "Starting January 1 of junior year of high school, athletes may begin making official visits to Division III campuses. Athletes are allotted one visit per school but may visit as many schools as they would like." Note the key part; "official visits" are one visit per school. Another "rule" is any visit to a college campus in which any part is financed by the school is considered an official visit. Hence coaches will usually save invitations for their top recruits. USMMA does not reimburse prospective students, athletes or others for expenses incurred visiting the campus.

I stand corrected. This has changed. I also see that D1 has changed and now has unlimited official visits, same as D2 and D3.
 
One could also review the Academy's guiding CFRs for guidance. In addition to the NCAA, KP also has to follow any rules/regulations regarding the expenditure of funds appropriated by Congress and their authorized uses.

I have no knowledge on the matter, only thoughts ...
 
My DD was invited to go for a swim recruiting trip. We paid out of pocket, and she was the only athlete that did not have a parent also attend. Wish I knew that parents were welcome too!

It was completely worth it, wonderful gem of a school and mission!

For any program, make the time to go. Experience firsthand whenever possible. I always give my girls a hardcopy of whatever travel insurance is in place, usually built-in Visa Signature from my Chase Hyatt or Chase Sapphire Preferred Card. This almost came into play on her return trip that was delayed until very, very late at night.
 
old thread, but... D3 still does not really have official visits like D1 and D2 schools do - this is why D3 recruits don't need to register with the NCAA eligibility center.

Also, D1 and D2 official visits require that compliance paperwork is sent to the NCAA for the prospect. D3 does not visit NCAA reporting.

The only major recent change is the unlimited D1 visits.
