Second Phase of USMC boot camp takes place at Camp Pendleton for weapons training. DI was angry (as always), decided to have a beach party. Sounds fun right? Everyone out to the pull up area/sandpit. Thashed ( code for physical exercise until you almost puke...) for 30 minutes. Take cover (hat) off, fill with sand and proceed to pour sand down your pants. Take off your blouse ( long sleeve top) and now roll around in the sand to ensure every part of your body is covered in sweat and sand. Yes, it is as uncomfortable as it sounds.
 
Not my plebe, but this letter was reported by a mom on our FB board: "Mom, we got our rifles today (drilling?). They are filled with cement so we don't shoot the detailers."

Sounds like Airborne school and a failed morning inspection...strip off your blouse, go to the gig pit (when I went it was a combination of sandbox sand and sawdust) and "exercise until we get tired" said "Sergeant Airborne." Then...sugar cookie.

Get out and proceed to training.

Ugh.
