Hello, I am a 3 year scholarship recipient who just finished my first semester. I got a 3.6 GPA (Was 6% away on one test from getting a 3.9), and am a bit worried about my future when it comes to my aspirations. I am looking to get around a 3.6 overall GPA for the OML, but my major is in Computer Science, and I have heard that the upper level classes can be brutal. There is only one other cadet in my 150 cadet program who is also CS, and he is also an MS1, so I don't have too much guidance to go off of when it comes to mingling CS and ROTC.

Is there anyone who has had experience with ROTC and CS that can give me some pointers? So far, my plan is to get a 4.0 next semester in order to have a fallback in case things go awry, but I have no idea what to expect. ROTC and classes this semester have already been time consuming, and I haven't even gotten into the thick of it yet.

Thanks for the help!

STEM majors will get extra points towards their OML. Talk to your ROO about your concerns and I am sure they will explain other opportunities to add to your OML. For instance, color guard, cannon crew, community service..Best of luck

Another idea is to take a couple of college courses online over the summer. I know CIET is usually after freshman year, but if you have the chance after sophomore year. My DS is a junior CS major and this really helped him in those harder CS classes

I recently spoke to a 2016 graduate who was a Criminal Justice major with a 3.6 GPA, who received AD. He said the STEM students definitely received extra points towards their OML as a Computer Science major with a 2.8 GPA also received AD. With all other things considered towards the OML, the CJ major would not have gotten AD with that low of a GPA, according to him.
