FY 12 OML Results

Cool.... OK, great info, thanks for sharing. 3110 is the AD number then? Much higher than I would have predicted. Then now we know that of the top 364, about 88% are going AD, and 12% are not. Just surprises me a little that the % of RC is that small in the, shall we say, Overachievers Cohort. I wish for little JCleppe that he were top 10% of AD... makes things simpler, but being DMG I assume still gets him high enough to get his first or second choice of Branch and Detail.

I figure JCleppe's son will be just fine. I've tried tons of different scenarios with the Branch Expectation Model and it always ends up with a good outcome and I'm lower on the OML than he is.

Just heard some news from our son.

He found out this morning he was 364 out of 5643, 6.45% on the National OML .

Not quite sure what he will be on the Active Duty OML yet. PMS said 6.45% but I think he was using the national numbers. I guess he'll have to wait and find out for sure. Very proud of him no matter where he is on the AD OML.

Wow, congrats that is very good. Even with the AD adjustment I see him getting his 1st or 2nd choice easily.

One thig to remember about the OML is that looking at the cutoff score is really not relevant to the number of AD. The total number of cadets getting AD can change each year, the minimum OMS score can be different each year as well depending on the scores each cadet gets that year. For example, you could have 2600 on the AD with a min. score of 71 points one year, and 3000 with a min. score of 76 the next. It really just depends on how the scoring went that particular year.

Being in the top 10 percent is nice, it releives a bit of stress but, as deturne19 has said, he has gone through the Branching Model to see how he can expect to do. If you look at the models each branch has several bars that show how the branching went. The top blue bar shows how many branch assignments were given without ADSO. If you know your placement on the AD Oml you can look back at the previous 2 or 3 years and see if you would have gotten your branch with or without ADSO. Based on the previous years both deturne19 and my son should be able to get their first choice without ADSO in just about any if not all the branches, sure there is a chance they may not but it is a small chance.

I agree, I was surprised to see the AD list at 3110, if that number holds up. Considering last year's was 2600+- before SMP and Nurses that is quite a jump when a lot of people were expecting it to be lower then last year.

How do we know where we fall on the AD OML? I am DMG, but also #1050 on the national, and I have no idea where I fall for AD (which I got, btw). Any help is appreciated.

It's really hard to tell right now, my son only knows his National OML number for sure, he has not received confirmation as to what the actual AD Cut off line was.

There was a post on this thread by a cadet that stated the line was 3110. He had looked at the list and said he could see where he was on the AD list in comparison to the National list.

I can only tell you what he said in regards to my son. My son's National OML number was 364, he said that number adjusted to 322 on the AD list. If that adjustment number holds true for the rest of the list then you might expect an AD OML number of around 880 to 900, again just an educated guess. That wold pit you at around 28% to 30% area on the list.

Again this is just an educated guess, my son has not had a chance to meet with the PMS again to find out for sure what the cut off line is or what his AD number is.

I would suggest you try and talk to your PMS, they should have the numbers in front of them. You will need to know soon since there is just a short time before your final Branch Request list is to be submitted.

Congratulations on finishing in the top 20% National.
