This whole discussion is ludicrous. According to Fox News' Pentagon reporter, there were at least 15 people in the room during the phone call, of which at least one would be a native Mandarin speaker. I don't think they use the Google machine.

Secretary Austin and Generals Milley and McKenzie are scheduled to appear before the Senate Armed Services Committee next Tuesday. The stated purpose of the hearing is:

To receive testimony on the conclusion of military operations in Afghanistan and plans for future counterterrorism operations​

There are veterans on both sides of the aisle, including Chairman Jack Reed and Ranking Member James Inhofe. I don't know if Reed will allow the hearing to go off topic, but there will certainly be a large elephant, or maybe panda, in the room if he doesn't.
