for first year candidates / ms4s, Generally when do they start receiving their twice a month stipend payments? Thanks.

I believe the stipend comes once/month. For my DS, I think he received his first stipend in October and it was retroactive to September. I just depends on how quickly the unit processes everyone's paperwork and gets it submitted, then how quickly the government (I forget the acronym for the payroll agency) gets it processed. Also, as NROTC they are not ms4. That is an AROTC term. they are midshipmen 4th class or midn 4/c.

Pretty sure the payment comes at the beginning of the month too.

For my NROTC MO, the stipend comes twice a month, around the 15th and the end of the month. For a 4th class they have to pass the fitness test and have been medically cleared (DODMERB), and then the unit submits the paperwork. It varies by unit how quickly they can administer the fitness test- some do it the first few days and other units can take longer. For my DD her first stipend came around the end of September but it was retroactive to the beginning of the semester.

It depends on the unit. My sons unit pays 2x per month...the 15th and end of month. He was already paid at end of Aug for partial month of August and paid on September 13th.

So, it sounds like it is twice a month, which I guess makes sense, since military pay is 2x/month. The stipend increases $50/month each year, so as a 1/c it is $400/month.

Yes to all the above.

Twice a month from DFAS. Scholarship 4/C will receive $250 in two increments of $125.
