My DS received an invitation to the Genesis program. I am confused because the invite describes the program as one “for students of color and first generation senior high school students.” Does that include Hispanics? Please forgive my ignorance but does “of color” refer to African Americans, and hispanics? We are proud Caribbean Hispanics and have a very mixed family as most Caribbean families do. To make matters more confusing his skin color would be considered Caucasian. Forgive my ignorance. I mean zero disrespect. We just do not want to accept an invitation not meant for us. I appreciate the advice.

Your DS definitely qualifies. Diversity programs general target Black/Latin/Indigenous populations. Echo what @A1Janitor said… go, learn, and have fun!

Contact Admissions to clear up any questions around this. They would be happy to go over the program with you and you'll have a clearer understanding of what they're trying to achieve and if it would benefit you to be part of it.
