Good to see the Foundation fears may have been much ado about nothing. Not diminishing stress, but glad for happy outcomes.

Did any of the USNA sponsored appointees have any C’s In classes? I haven’t seen or heard of any falcons receiving appointments if that was the case.

No, yes one of them. But she is currently retaking the class that she had a C in. The falcon scholars who did have Cs (not confirmed), as far as I am aware, haven't received theirs.

My son has decided to attended GMC as non-sponsored for USAFA.

This information is so helpful to me as a mom of a freshman who has interest in the academies. I am so glad you are sharing this with us. I never knew there was this alternative path until now. Just wanted to say thank you.

And even so, it seems as though GMC is a WONDERFUL route to take. I'm doing my research on it as well. The tuition is a fraction of what it is at regular civilian colleges, and to get the military experience as part of the curriculum is the icing on the cake. Even if an appoinment isn't in the cards, it's still a great academic foundation, and there are good alternative paths post prep year.

One thing to also help with this decision if the Academy ends up not being in the cards. Our son was medically disqualified by USAFA after getting out there BUT even I didn't realize there was a "cooperation" between The Citadel and GMC. As such, The Citadel accepted 50 hours from his classes at GMC and that, along with the online classes he started while he was transitioning out of USAFA and since then, he'll enter The Citadel 3 hours shy of being an academic senior when he arrives as a knob in August. At Cid, three years minimum is required to graduate from the cadet side but with what he's got carrying forward with classes he'll either be double major and minor or triple major when he gets out to Charleston. So GMC can most definitely be a good jump start if the Academies still don't happen.
