For you mailbox watchers, the NOM interview invites from the GA Senators are going out. Good luck to all. You've got this.

I was wondering when they were going out. DD heard from Rep almost 2 wks ago!
By the way, based on your location, we are neighbors!

DS received the nom interview letter from Isakson in yesterday's mail...we are very excited. He is a reapplicant and was not selected to interview with the senator last year. Woodall's deadline was just last week, so they are likely still sorting and organizing. In the past, the GA senators communicate with each other. While a few candidates might be invited to interview with both, it's fairly rare. Good luck to all!

PS: we're just down the road a piece from you folks in Cumming.

DD had interviews with Chambliss and Isakson few years back. My impression is they coordinate more on who gets a NOM than who gets an interview. DS is waiting on Woodall too which I suspect will be later in November after Senator weekend. Chambliss should come out soon since he holds interviews same place and time (different bldg) as Isakson. Many, not all, interviewed with both when DD went through.

@Craig--We are in Collin's district. District 9. We are just barely North of the North/West side of District 7. DD's interview with Collins is on November 1st. She has not heard from either Senator yet.

Recieved my Isakson interview this past Friday. Recieved my Chambliss interview today. One is at 11:30 and the other at 1:00pm. I'm upset though because I have to miss my cross country regions race now :(

DS received his Chambliss invite today, too. Years and years ago, his brothers were invited by the district BSA to do the opening flag ceremony for Chambliss' first run at senate (where they met the president). DS #3 was so mad that he wasn't old enough to participate in this. So excited he gets to interview now!

Are you sure? Did you get the "no thanks" letter, or just nothing yet? My DS#2 only interviewed w/ one in 07. I was shocked to see DS3 get both.

Chambliss letters just starting hitting. Give it a day or two until or until they send you a not invited letter.

Why do some only get an interview with one Senator? Good question. First of all, they each only interview a limited number. Do the math. Friday and Saturday, with interviews lasting 15 mins. An 8 hour day would only be 32 people interview per board. One may conduct less interviews than the other. Another factor could be how you ranked your choices and how everyone else ranked their choices. Did everyone rank their choices the same for each Senator. How many spots does each Senator have to fill that year could factor in. Each Senator may use slightly different standards to determine who they interview.

DD hasn't heard anything from Isakson, but sadly got the "No Interview" letter on Saturday from Chambliss :-(. She is so bummed, and confused. She has 4.0 unweighted GPA, top 7% of her class, 34 math ACT, 32 Science, 30 English, 30 Reading, 32 Composite, leadership, AP classes (5 in AP CHEM), Varsity soccer player, DODMERB qualified, passed CFA, lots of activities and community service. She is a higher qualified candidate then both her older siblings (one a USNA grad and one a USNA mid). They both rcvd interviews to both Senators in Ohio, a larger more competitive state than Georgia. I really hope only living in the state for 2 years isn't hurting her chances.

At least she has her Congressional interview coming up and already has a Presidential Nom. otherwise she would be even more upset.

Isakson's letter was sent out over a week ago. You might want to contact his rep, Nancy Brooks, to see if your DD is on the list, but didn't get the letter. It's not a given that anyone would interview with both, so don't read more into that than is there. It's very likely what the above poster stated about open positions (i.e. how many slates are they preparing). Your DD already has a presidential and will interview w/ MOC. Also, am VERY surprised to see your MOC schedule interview on 11.1, as that is the date of both Isakson and Chambliss' interview.

I am not. If the two Sens are holding on the exact same day, my guess is they are spreading the wealth, thus no duplications and have talked to each other regarding the names on the slates. Or at least the one Congressmen has decided not to duplicate the Sens. Nominations.

Remember, every MoC can decide whether to spread the wealth or not. A Congressional district can vary in applicant pool size just like it can vary for Sens. state to state.
~ In VA, the north and @ Langley/Norfolk are a lot more competitive than if you come from Emporia near the NC border(the boonies in VA). Those congressmen because they have so many candidates tend to also spread the wealth and not duplicate the Senators slate, some get through, but on a whole they are only going to get 1 MoC.

Is there a ballpark guess on how many kids might be interviewed for the senator's slate? My son has an interview with one senator and then his congressman on the same day just hours apart. I was just curious as to how many kids for a senator's slate might be interviewed. Is it typical to interview 40 kids for 10 slots or do they typically just interview say 15? Anyone have prior knowledge of how many their child went up against for a senators slate?

Interviews

As far as the number, you can do an educated guess. They are interviewing the 31st and 1st. Letter says interview is 15 min. Figure an 8 hr day. That will put you in the ballpark.

DS has interviews with both. DD had interview with both. Other kids, not all, when were two years had interview with both. Some did not. I believe the coordination is more ion the nomination side than the interview side. That way they maximize the number of Georgians in the national pool. I would speculate they might coordinate some on interview times, but that is pure speculation.

DD had NOMS from Senator and Congressman. I know others that did too. I don't think they coordinate on that level.

My DS letter from Isakson does not give a 15 time constraint. It says report 15 minutes prior to but doesnt say it will be alloted 15 minutes. Is 15 minutes typical?

i could be mistaken since I looked at it quickly last week. But let's just pretend it does, you get an idea how many.

If I recall the interview wasn't too terribly long for Chambliss or Isakson two years ago. I didn't wear my shoes out pacing the hall.

I remember 20 min for Isakson, but that was in 2007...so brain is foggy. Woodall was over 30 min.

Has anyone heard from Woodall's office yet? I think it's too early, but wonder.

DS waiting to hear from Woodall. Woodall's application was was due October 10th so I am thinking late this week at earliest and likely next week.
