I'm Currently a High School Junior, who has relatively good grades (3.7ish GPA, this only being the reason because I'm currently on a program where I go to college my junior and senior year, and it ain't easy). And although I am relatively athletic, I haven't done sports. I understand that this isn't a super great attribute to my application, but I found a bit of a hail-mary pass attempt at getting into the Academy: The Split Training Option. Since I'm in college and am not planning on taking a summer quarter, so I got over 3 months to spare. I also saw that 85 spots a year are saved for Reserves and National Guard, and they say they're "Competitive" yet I also continuously see that they're often left unfilled. Overall, I've seen that people do this, and am hoping I can as well.

There are many routes to gain admission this being one of them. This is a good Nomination source. Keep in mind that you must be fully qualified like all other appointees. Look at what USMA posts as the “average”
statistics for the most recent class, and aim at or above those. One likely reason the Reserve slots go unfilled is there simply aren’t enough qualified Applicants. So if you do all that you can to put together a great application your chance of Admission would seem good. Don’t overlook any portion of the application, it’s ALL important!
Make sure you also apply for every Nomination you are eligible for as well, not just this one.

Before you go too far down this path it’s highly unlikely you will get a BCT slot this summer unless you already have it.

Yeah, you can try for this summer but it would be a long shot. Maybe if there is a short call but you probably have to enlist keeping your fingers crossed for that to happen.
Still, no harm in checking.

Appointed candidate to the c/o 2024 here. I've been enlisted in the NG for almost four years. Feel free to message me with questions about the NG and how the application process was for me.
