Hi Guys!

I was awarded the 4 year NROTC Navy Option Scholarship to attend University of Washington, Seattle. I'm currently on a gap year in New Zealand, and will be here until August when I return to the United States. Is there a way to go through the MERB overseas? Perhaps at the American Embassy here? I've tried to get ahold of them with absolutely no luck.

If not, then I may have to make a separate trip back to the United States to go through the MERB.

Looking forward to your thoughts!

Hey Alastair
I'm in a similar situation, I got in contact with DoDMERB and while they were quite helpful, they said I'd have to get the test done on my own dime... Sorry to disappoint. Best of luck

Hey there,

So if the OP is an American citizen, then I believe that you can still contact DoDMERB and schedule something for free. It is definitely procedural that all American citizens (home or abroad) can get their medical test done for free. However, I think it will be very unlikely that they can contract the medical test to be done outside of the United States. Maybe at a military base or Embassy like you suggested, but more than likely you will have to travel back to the states. Do contact lawrence.e.mullen.civ@mail.mil -- he responds super quick and will definitely have an answer to your question, and it may be different from my thoughts.

Best of luck!
