Hello there everyone,

I was just curious if anyone knows how to deal with sickness at the Air Force Academy or any service academy. I am a college student right now, and on the 1 or 2 times a year I get sick, I can easily just stay home for a day or two and get better. Classes have a fairly lenient attendance policy here.

At a service academy, I feel there would be serious consequences for missing a class, so I was wondering how one deals with the 1 or 2 times a year where they get sick.

Thanks for listening.

wake up, feel terrible, go to the clinic, and if it's bad enough, you get bed rest. if you cant make it to the clinic, email your teachers and let em know. or get your roommate to do it for you. missing sucks; it usually takes a week to catch up for every day you missed, depending on the day, of course...

What a good question. I was wondering the same thing. I have the stomach flu right now..and I hate it! I keep imagining how hard it would be to have the flu at the academy..

What happens if you get sick during BCT/ Plebe Summer?

Every morning during BCT your cadre will ask if anyone needs to go to sick call. If you need to go, your cadre will walk you down to the clinic and you will wait to see a doctor. Same thing applies, if it is bad enough the doctor will put you on a Form-18. Depending on the severity of the illness/injury, you may be put on bedrest, academics only, or self-paced. In BCT if you get put on bedrest you probably won't have to make-up any work that you missed.
