Will having glasses with a light prescription(far-sighted) disqualify me from getting an appointment? Where would the medical board draw the line on that?

You will be fine. You may be disqualified for certain rated jobs depending on your specific refraction, but no, you will not be denied an appointment for having a slight correction with glasses.

If you haven’t yet read every page, link and menu item on the USAFA website, that is a great official source to start your research at.

You can also go to the DoDMERB website and work your way through the menu items on the left. DoDMERB is the entity that finds applicants meets/does not meet standards.

Many cadets wear glasses. Light prescription is far different than legally blind. USAFA even has a laser vision clinic on campus where students can have their eyes zapped into 20/20 (or better) at $0 cost. I had my eyes corrected there and the results were amazing -- no more squinting at the alarm clock in the middle of the night.

Out of curiosity, is that for all students or only if you are selected to be a pilot?

I'm very close to being legally blind and I still got in. I'll just need to get lasik to be PQ.
