Go for Early Action, or Redo CFA?

I recently learned about the Early Action program, so I have been getting my application together as quickly as I can. Yesterday I took the CFA, and my scores were not nearly as good as I expected them to be. Would I be more competitive for the Air Force Academy if I opted out of Early Action to have time to work out and to retake the CFA, or would I be more competitive if I stuck with what I have right now?

My CFA scores:
Basketball throw: 57 ft.
Pull ups: 12
Shuttle run: 9.3
Sit ups: 84
Push ups: 40
Mile run: 7:40

My academics:
GPA: 4.0
SAT: 2150
ACT: 34

Go for Early Action, or Redo CFA

I really think you should go ahead do the early action.

Do a search for early action on this thread- you'll find quite a few different opinions. My advice is to hold off on EA and ensure that your application is as good as you can possibly make it before submitting it. The trend in past years and the consensus of most of the posters on this board is that very few appointments are given out before spring, with most of them being given to recruited athletes and those with "superstar" applications. Only you really know yourself though- will you have the dedication to really improve your CFA scores before the deadline? It just comes down to you personally. Feel free to ask any more questions if you need clarification!

As far as I know they don't publish pass/fail numbers for the CFA, you just have to compare the averages in past years to see where you stand.

Mile Run

I believe 7:40 is a pass for the mile run. I have researched it, and the passing score for the mile does not seem to be published, but my ALO said he wouldn't worry about my scores. I assume he would not say this if I had failed an event.

Reid, sounds like you can pass CFA and CFA only weighs a small portion in the whole picture, and you are very competitive academically. If I were you, I will do the early action. BTW, is your GPA 4.0 weighed or unweighted? Wish you the best!

GPA

Thanks! 4.0 is unweighted, my weighted GPA is 4.06.

I - and I am sure others that are in my position - would appreciate it if anyone else weighed in on this!

Does that mean it has to be in 11:59 PM mountain time today?
Also, my transcripts have been sent, but I don't know when they will arrive. Do they have to be processed before the deadline, or just postmarked?

Admissions said 11:59 on Nov 1st when I talked to them. We were waiting on a final LOR.
