Go Navy, Beat Army

I have dial-up and this took about a half an hour to load -
it was worth it though! Very funny!
I wonder if they will show this at the Army/Navy game - it will have the whole crowd in stitches!

Kaydet Gump going to a "special school called West Point" haha!

Of course - Forrest was awarded the medal of honor - makes perfect sense Kaydet Gump would go to West Point.

Probably not. Too long. There are several versions on Youtube so probably they are working on shortening it.

There are a couple more worth posting when I get around to it. Unfortunately, I can't find any good Woop ones.

The West Point cadets are keeping their good ones in the bad until the game.
They don't want the mids stealing their creativity - :shake:

They have cut it down and seem to be editing for time. Don't know if it will make it for a game video but it is funny. The one I like best is an old one where Army, Air Force and Naval Academy in dress uniform count "looks" from girls in the Mall. They count the looks and compare in a cab. Obviously Navy wins. LOL

One of my favorites was a previous version of this one:

About 10 yrs ago there was a VW commercial where two guys were driving around town and see an old overstuffed chair on the curb for garbage pickup. They pick it up and place it in the back of the car. Slowly the realize that it stinks so they stop at another curbside garbage pile and drop it off. The Navy spirit video was the same thing except they picked up and dropped off a Woop. Here is the VW ad. Imagine the exact same video with a Woop instead of a chair. And a lot more notice of the odor.

My alltime favorite was a spoof on a toy commercial where a kid places his GI Joe on the nightstand. As soon as the kid is asleep, Joe wakes up, rappels down the nightstand, jumps into his 300ZX and goes off chasing girls. The Navy spirit video had Joe (a mid) waking up, rappeling down the side of Bancroft Hall, jumping into his 300ZX and driving straight to WP (actual-a lot of effort) and snaking some Woop's GF (a common theme) and returning to Annapolis.

If anyone can find either of these, they are hilarious and very well done.
USNA started these and showing them on the big screen at the game probably 15 yrs ago. Army tried to follow suit but they sucked. Only in the last few years have they been presentable and I think last year they actually beat USNA. They alone make watching the game live worthwhile.

If they showed these on TV I would never go sit in the freezing cold again.
yeah last year the Army ones were much better than the Navy videos!

That's been true for years, from my experience. :frown:

Best one from my time was a bunch of Mids chasing a Woop all through the Yard. Up one side and down the other.

Finally, the Woop runs to the sea wall and jumps in. Enraged Midshipmen yell insults to him as he slowly and smugly backstrokes, throwing insults in their direction.

Suddenly, from under the water emerge two SEAL-type divers entirely in black, grab the suddenly-horrified Woop, and drag him under.

Nothing but empty water and a few bubbles remain...

It was a HUGE hit when they played it at the Meadowlands in 1989.

Beg to differ. I think the availability and cost of technology until the mid '90s prohibited the flow of creativity. There may or may not have been a good one in the bunch each year. Cheap computer memory and speed and digital video changed all that. I noticed it about 1995. The Woops even conceded that they were running a poor second. In my opinion, Army has been slowly catching up. We'll see what happens this year. If they can fit Keydet Gump into a 1 minute segment, Army has tough competition.

Zap, as an avowed sports hater, how many games have you been to lately?

Army/Navy Games? None since Firstie year. I watch on TV.

Maybe it's the ones on TV that have stunk, or I've missed the good ones.

There you go. They don't show any of the good ones on TV, only the ones from the fleet. In the stadium, during most TV pauses, they show Brigade spirit videos. Some would not be suitable for TV. Also most of the TV audience would have absolutely no idea what the video was about.

Ah. Bummer. :frown:

Well, the first one you posted I rate

The second I rate :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

The one based on the VW commercial would get a :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

The one posted above and made by the Woops is the same old tired thing: Mids are homos. Find another theme, would ya? It gets old after the 32,764,395th time.

Also most of the TV audience would have absolutely no idea what the video was about.

Yeah, well.... That goes the same for anything they watch. :shake:

Yes. I thought it was boring.

But hey, some people think Al Franken is funny too, so I guess it takes all kinds to make the world...

Unfortunately, I can't find any good Woop ones.

FYI - there is a link on the USMA homepage for spirit videos, it says "coming soon - Nov. 28th." Once that is up I'm sure we will have some good ones to add to this discussion.
