I am a scholarship MS2 cadet in AROTC right now, and I'm strongly considering going enlisted due to some events that happened at my ROTC battalion and my concern with accessions come graduation. Has anybody been through this process before that can tell me exactly how it goes. My cadre are not being helpful in this process, I do know that it might be somewhat difficult because I am in my sophomore year, but I don't know exactly what that entails.

I guess the first question would be, are you on a ROTC Scholarship? If so then that's something that will need to be worked out with your PMS and Cadet Command. If you are not on scholarship then you can simply stop enrolling in ROTC and enlist.

I have to ask, what events have happened in regard to your Battalion and what concerns do you have about accessions, that is still a ways off.

OP Said he is a scholarship MS2.

Agree with Jcleppe....we should understand why you are worried this far out.
Also, if your last name is contained in your handle, you should request to have it changed, for privacy.

I worded that poorly. It wasn't so much a single event that made me want to pack up and leave ROTC, as much not being happy with the program as a whole, as well as learning what exactly the job differences between a PL and an enlisted soldier does. In addition to that, from my understanding I have little to no chance of getting active duty or infantry, and there is nothing I want less than being in the national guard, also, I have already used the one major change my battalion told me I get, so I'm locked into a degree that I don't wish to pursue. In short, I'm just all around not happy with college, or my experience with ROTC. I'm wondering if I'd be a able to make sure I get an infantry, and hopefully an option 40 contract, or if I'd have to enlist based on needs of the Army.

Talk with your cadre, especially your PMS.

A classmate of mine didn't enjoy school, left during the beginning of our MS3 year. He got an 18X contract and is now doing great things as a Weapons Sergeant in Group. It's possible
