I was thinking about this subject yesterday, well before I saw your post. If you want to meet a really likeable person, I recommend making the acquaintance of Elwood P. Dowd. He might be one of the most likeable characters you'd ever hope to meet. I encountered Elwood at TCM when the Steelers-Dolphins game had become abysmal, sometime in the second quarter.

I have to point out there was an aspect to his character that was absent from Dr. Bradberry's list. It may even have been the key to his likeability. Elwood P. Dowd really likes people. After you meet him, not only do you like him, but you might find yourself liking other people more as well. You might even like yourself a little more too.

Now, if you don't like people very much, you'll probably still have to get along with them. That's where the advice of George Burns comes in handy:

"The most important thing is sincerity. If you can fake that you've got it made."

Good point, though I advocate for being genuine and authentic. Learn to be sincere and don't fake it. Let people decide to like to because of who you are.
