Well…….
The bad

2 USAFA openings…. Already filled in my DS’ district…. W out counting the prep candidate.

The Good

2 WP opening and they took 4 candidates…

The Hope……
DS did not get a TWE yet and he got within two weeks of his application a full appointment offer to his second choice academy which he loved during the visit also

So we wait

PS: should he go ahead an accept the one he has to start paper work etc and if his first choice comes thru then politely and respectfully let the academy he will take the other one?

Then….. sometimes you grow where you are planted not where you wished

Any of the Academies will set your DS up for a successful career in the military and civilian sectors. He will also be developed as a leader which will benefit him no matter where he ends up in life. No TWE means he is still in the running. Best of Luck!

Yeah he got a full national rotc scholarship from that service branch also to an ivy league school… but he will take academy over any civilian school…. I think even if the rotc is from his first branch of choice. He likes the academy system etc

Thanks

Have you been told by an official source that the openings in your district are all filled?

yes we were told how many so far and how many opening they had but also that the academies have taken more than the openings the Rep had …. So still hopeful

The “2 USAFA openings” - don’t assume for a minute that your DS is circling the drain. No one knows where those appointments are charged, unless an official source has told your DS something. Those 2 might be on the same slate as your son, but could have other nom sources their appointments are charged to (Presidential, JROTC, others, etc.). USAFA also has the ability to offer appointments to other fully qualified applicants on an elected official’s slate, and charge them to “nom authority buckets” they manage. If you haven’t already, go read the Sticky pinned to the top of the Nominations forum.

He can accept one, get started on pre-admit tasks, assuming he is fine with going there. If another option becomes available, he can pause, re-assess, make his decision, make any notifications required, and press on.

Here is the issue. Even after appointments are given out, the shuffling of nomination sources continues. I’ll use my oldest son as an example. He was appointed in mid-November. I watched his “credited nomination” source change three times up until the end of April as the Academy worked through all of the candidates. They moved my son’s nomination source to make room for another candidate. Even if a candidate from a specific district is given an appointment, they can be “charged” to other available sources if admission decides they want someone else and need the slot. One should never give up until admissions announces that the class is full.

yeah, that is why we still have hope besides the fact he did not get a twe or anything else....I think one may be presidential bc they commented one had a military connection

he is ok and loved his second choice too

i imagine immunization requirements will be similar as we want to make sure they are spaced out and done w plenty of time

One of his friends was 5th on a list and got into his academy of choice so we are still hopeful. He considers himself lucky and honored to have been accepted to one of the two SA he asked for
