Our son got his letter today from USMMA, just a few days after his application status changed online. That letter and blue folder is very classy indeed!

He is very excited and I think the visit to KP in late January totally sold him on KP. Loved having one of the plebes show him around, taking him to the dorms, going to a Physics II class (and not feeling overwhelmed) and having lunch with him. Said he got those all-important "good vibes" from KP, and likes the idea of the service options after graduation. Dad felt the same way after our visit and tour with one of the admissions officers.

He is still waiting to see what happens with his application to the Coast Guard Academy and NROTC/Marine option application, but is 95% certain he want to go to KP regardless of what happens with the other applications.

Excited in Kansas and hoping to meet everyone soon at KP!

oh wow, congratulations. We were at KP on Jan 26 and thought it was great. Boy just got call from MOC about getting USNA appointment, but KP is also a big consideration. USCGA is the big hold out, we will see...he has LOA to KP and medical waiver the nomination is the hurdle there... wow, what a rollercoaster ride. These kids are growing up FAST!!!

Congrats on KP !!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Congrats....

Congrats...Another Kansan at King's Point.

My son Chris (from the Wichita, KS area) also received an appointment letter. He is showing up for sure on July 9 (Indoc) and we have already booked the family trip to send him off. I sent you a private message with my POC and my son's POC details.

I know that UNA, USAFA, and USMA give awards at high school graduation. Is this also true of USMMA? Thanks

Yes, they will present your appointment at your high school awards night if you wish.

The presentation is usually done by a USMMA Admissions Field Representative.

You can contact you local USMMA Parent's Association to find one close to you if you are having trouble.

The support network of KP parents is outstanding. :thumb:

Congratulations!

Congrats to you and your son, jnblucy!

This is my first post on this forum. We are still waiting for that letter and blue folder! Our son got his acceptance way back in mid November and his nominations in late November and early December (one from our representative and one from one of our senators). Now he's waiting for a waiver for his near-sightedness.

He's already got a waiver and his orders from the USCGA, but KP is his first choice. The waiting is driving us ALL crazy! (Every day, the most important moment is when the mail is delivered.)

A sympathetic lady at DODMERB told me that the USCGA was the "pickiest" about giving an eye waiver, but that the USMMA takes the longest. Anybody have any corroborating information on this? (I'm trying to take comfort from the fact that he got the CG waiver - surely KP will come through with one too!)

for us....
USMMA waived my daughter's allergy shot history really fast, CGA is still in a holding pattern. Have you sent a note to Mr. Mullen ???

Good luck on getting that waiver And congratulations on the CGA! That's good to hear Kings Point is his first choice. My son feels the same way about KP, but hasn't hear back from CGA yet. If you don't mind me asking, what did your son like better about KP, in comparison to CGA?
My son really liked everything about the CGA during his two visits there. But he seems to be extra-excited about KP after his visit. He really liked the plebes that took him on the tour, the options in the service commitment and the international travel...Also liked the classes offered in the Marine Transportation major as he is a little intimidated by what seems to be a heavier engineering load for the areas of study at CGA, and the info on the average starting salaries of KP graduates. Like most 18-year-olds really doesn't yet know what to compare those numbers to and how truly impressive those salaries are compared to what many college graduates can expect.

All the best to your son. I hope he gets that waiver real fast!

Adding my heartfelt congrats to those with appointments so far. Welcome to the KP family. Get ready for one wild & hair raising ride! Its one extreme to another the entire four years with those many options. Let me give you one little example.....

I guess I should announce that after 3.7 years of my son being completely dedicated to becoming a Coast Guard Officer, he (at the last hair raising minute last week) has signed & will commission to the Air Force and has been chosen for Intel. :yikes:

Ok everybody who has known of Jamzmom since Indoc of 2005...... Pick your chins up off the floor now. No one could be more shocked than me at this point. :stretcher:

I have some perfectly good CG sweatshirts for $5.00 each today only! LOL After the utter disbelief faded, I find I am pretty darn over the top proud of this kid & the choices he's made. Guess I should google Air Force & find out who they are exactly. :shake:

Air Force? U.F.B!

Just another example of the opportunities available to a KP graduate. :thumb:

The Letter Came!!!

The letter came via Fed Ex Yesterday!!!! Son signed and faxed acceptance document last night!!! Of course, he took it very nonchalantly, while his father and I were over the moon. Son rolled his eyes but smiled nicely when I insisted on taking a picture of him signing the acceptance document.

But no blue folder, just a very nice letter. Will the folder be coming soon? What is in it?

Guess now it is time to start looking at airfare for I-doc day and Parents weekend.

Congrats! I'm sure he was floored on the inside. He'll appreciate that picture in the future.
