Hello all I was wondering if you had to specifically pay in one go or can you pay it off using different, separate cards or so? I mean, can I pay a little bit, someone else pays a part, and then someone else pays a piece ect.

I just got the notification a few days ago and the money is due tomorrow so I'm a little short on cash on such a short notice. I just payed 150 using a debit card but the balance still says $525. Does it need time to go through or was I wrong?

We paid in full way back in February but I'm pretty sure we received an email confirmation a few days later. Good luck!

I'd try and contact Admissions and let them know you need extra time. Anyone know if there is scholarship money out there?

I’ve read other people that have talked to their local veterans club or even USNA alumni associations from their area and asked for help. But also know that if you can’t go it won’t hurt your admission chances.

@Nomak54,

Call USNA admissions at 410-293-1858 first thing tomorrow morning (after 8am EDT). Tell them you are having difficulty paying the fee and ask if there is any scholarship available or if they could extend your deadline, and go from there.

The fee has gone up quite a bit in recent years. It covers your food, the sweats, nice tee shirts and a bunch of swags. I believe there is some “scholarship” set aside for those who have difficulty paying by admissions and Alumni Associations. You will find out more when you call tomorrow. Good luck!

My DS contacted his local chapter of the American Legion last spring. They paid for half the tuition for NASS last summer. He then went to a meeting and shared his experience with them and thanked them in person after NASS.

Just called them, I explained to them what I did and they made a note stating that I indeed paid in total. Thank you very much for the suggestion!

Does that mean that they just wrote it off and there is no longer $525 due, or that you were mistaken and the $150 you already paid covered all of it?

It is my understanding that NASS "tuition" is a total of $525, so you would have been on the hook for $375 (after having paid $150).

Specifically, I just payed off parts of it three different times. I noticed that each time I payed a certain amount it still said I owed $525. It just made me a little worried :p

DS got accepted to USMA Summer Seminar and we booked his ticket from NY to FL. Then found out one week late he got accepted to NASS. We had to eat the flight and book another flight so that he could go to both back to back. That was quite expensive without having budgeted for it. The things we do for our kids. It paid off, he's going to USMAPS.

Glad it worked out and thank you for letting us know, @Nomak54! Now train for the CFA and do your best around other potential candidates so you can CHECK IT OFF IN JUNE - to me it is one of the biggest benefits to attend NASS!

For other parents and future candidates, do inquire about the scholarship when you receive the acceptance but are having difficulty to pay. Do you also have to pay for a round trip ticket? My guts tell me the $525 is more than enough to cover one candidate.

You do have to pay to transport your child to SS. Whether by flight or car. We are in Illinois so my DD will fly. They are met at BWI and transported to the academy and also transported for the return trip.

Going forward use Southwest whenever possible. They allow for flight changes without fees and when your child becomes active duty they are even more flexible. Great company to deal with. Good luck!
