Govt shutdown Round 2

My bet is 33% chance of shutdown today 69% chance in December.

I am not going for 100% for Dec., because of 2 reasons.
1. The MoCs will not want to stay in DC in Dec until they vote on it.
2. By Jan. voters are starting to really clue into the 16 election. Those ads will be running against every incumbent.
~ The 13 shutdown was @16 months out from a mid-term.

Tomorrow a.m. either Bullet is at home working on the house/lawn with the pets while I am at work, or not. There is nothing we can do about it.

A few pages back NavyHoops (I think) had mentioned that they have friends that are federal employees working outside of DC and not even thinking about this aspect. Whereas, DC employees will already battening down the hatches for it to occur.

Anyone that works in a customer oriented field knows the old adage:
~ Make 1 person happy and they may tell 1 person. Tick 1 person off and they will tell 10 people.

It is sad to me that our elected officials don't get they work for us and are in a customer oriented career (voters). This will have a ripple effect just like it did in 13.

For Senators that were not up for re-election in 14, but allowed the shutdown in 13, and now support a shutdown and are up for re-election in 16, I think you might seem them do a CYA and not vote for a shutdown because of the fear that they will not be re-elected.

Pima, what are you doing still talking about the potential Shutdown? Don't you know we have to get ready for the "Commie World Takeover Conference and Pot-Luck Social" next weekend? Hornet and his husband are looking forward to your world famous Artichoke Dip and Chicken Casserole. And I have to work on my lecture on "Tearing Down Religious Dogma From Within -- A People's Guide to Destroying America". It will be so much fun! Quite nearly a Paradise! Of course, it pales in comparison to the eventual Worker's Paradise we are striving so hard for, with our humanistic tendencies and "feelings for our fellow man" lunacy. But keep fighting the people's fight, Comrades!

(Note: I don't know SAF's protocol's for a "sarcasm font")

Bullet...sarcasm font can be::eek::coo2l::yikes: use the emocons.

Now you could have also used :welcome: too!

I would never do chicken casserole for Hornet and his DH. Hornet is a foodie! Since, you will be home, I think you should make your manicotti and gravy! I will be busy working! Someone has to bring in the money!

Seems like this conversation could occur over the dinner table! :D I shouldn't talk though given the number of conversations my wife and I have on Facebook

Yes, thanks for the enjoyable read. I have so much to say, I'll... hold off.
But, LineintheSand, thanks for holding out against a Cat 2 non sequitur hurricane. :)

Crisis averted... no shutdown at least until 12/11/2015. See all this was for nothing..:lolatyou:

Last time this happened there were so many emails from the non bargaining and bargaining folks. This time nothing. Once those emails start flying again then I know...

Nothing? The surface has just been scratched. There's all sorts of tangents to take off on.

Over under on the number of pages in this thread by close of biz on 12/11/2015?

Will CGA and LITS be unbanned?

Who will have won the World Series?

How many Republican candidates will still be in the Presidential race?

Will Donald Trump call Pope Francis a clown and an idiot by then?

Hahahaha

Seriously? :director: Let it go. That bus has passed. Let's focus on the mission.

Heard an interesting observation from some talking heads: Everytime there is a govt shutdown the media castigates the party involved. Yet in the next election that same party gets some boost, presumably as it motivated their base, and people like the idea they stood up on principle. Pointed out 2-3 examples.

I'm not sure the drama/trauma/collateral damage is worth it, so I hope nothing happens from either side just to play politics.

Personally, I think we need to address the broader issues intelligently, but have given up on DC crowd being able to do that.

Politically if they do this I think it is career suicide...

If only it were true.

Pima,

I love you like a sister, buuuuuuuuut, are you insane?

Stunts like a willingness to shut down the government, refusal to vote on judicial nominations, demands to take votes on bills with zero chance of passage are not political suicide for that critical mass of Congressmen and Senators. It's their stock in trade.

The prosecution rests.
