My school sent my transcripts to USAFA. My GPA is 94.66 at school, took 9 AP class to junior year, and 4 more at senior year. But my GPA showing on USAFA application web site is 3.78. And my SAT and ACT score both missing on the web site. Should I contact USAFA counselor for GPA score? How they transfer school GPA to their GPA? If I am send my SAT (1550) and ACT (34) to them, my GPA will be change?

Thank you!

Don't know how they convert 94.66% to 3.78. Doesn't seem fair to me because, to me 94.66 = A which equals 4.0. Also, what about weighting the average for AP classes? I don't know how sending them the SAT and ACT would change the GPA, but YES, contact your counselor for some Q & A about these issues. Your grades, classes and SAT and ACT are excellent, so relax, you should not have a problem with that aspect of your application.

They recalculate ALL GPAs and factor in the strength of the school as part of it as well as the classes taken (eg normal, honors, AP). Also, given they have the transcript I expect they may have used the actual grade for each class to calculate, which should leave a combo of As and Bs in the calculation (but I'm merely guessing). The SAT/ACT will not change the GPA but your scores are excellent so they are a plus in themselves. I'm sure you have bigger fish to fry than to spend any time worrying about this, and a 3.78 GPA is nothing to sneeze at anyway. Focus on remaining application items that you can affect.

Thank you @NJROTC-CC, @kinnem . I worry because I saw last year ‘s USAFA average admission GPA is 3.85. Keep working on nomination now.

Well, average is just that.... average. That means some are above (generally about 50%) and some are below. There is far more considered in your application than merely your GPA. Class rank, SAT, athletics, leadership, etc. But then yo know because you are filling out your app.

So sounds like what is most meaningful and comparable on USAFA threads is what is your USAFA recalculated GPA, whether it's the same as your transcript or adjusted.
Wondering how often the USAFA is different than the transcript GPA. DD's was favorable recalculated.
And not sure if I already posted this before, sorry if redundant. Her District ISD calculates UW GPA as a formula: numeric ave / 25 = UW GPA. So depending on who you are, it could be incredibly unfavorable. I can't imagine anyone with a perfect 100 ave, and that's the only person that can say they are "4.0" UW GPA. And someone who scores perfect 90's gets a 3.60 while someone that scored perfect 89's and never made an "A" gets a 3.56. I was shocked to not see a 4.0 UW and then did lots of digging to find out why. So I just say, "DD has 96.25, no score less than 91" and let others interpret that. For our poster, double check how your district calculates numeric to 4.0 scale. It may just be coincidence that 94.66/25=3.78. On a completely unrelated note, I just dropped off DD at the airport, she is on the way to FVE!!!!

Oh, and 94.66 is awesome, your SAT/ACT are great!

Interesting. My DSs GPA remained the same from transcript to portal, and our district weights more heavily than many. I assumed that was not the converted GPA.
