Is a 3.45 a good enough gpa when applying to West Point? I go to a very competitive high school.

I always heard they look more at class rank than GPA. Like I have a 4.37 but my class rank is 3rd out of 423. Whereas, at another school where there are less AP/Honors classes someone could be 1st in their class with maybe a 3.9.

Class rank better reflects how well academically you do in comparison to your peers.

Also, they look at the whole picture. They aren't going to look solely at your GPA and reject you. They will look at everything, everything from all your grades, activities, fitness test, medical record. I wouldn't be too concerned with GPA right now espeically if you're a junior or senior because it can't change that much. I had a 3.6 (for the record).

Congratulation on your appointment!! Quick question: Did you have knock em dead SAT/ACT scores?

I'll answer this one too... I had a 3.2 GPA because I failed out of AP Chem and had a D in AP US History largely because I (made the mistake of) not caring. My ACT scores were 26 math, 28 science, 33 reading, 29 English, and they waived me from having to do the writing portion for some reason. I graduated HS in 2007.

I'm really surprised I'm getting the chance because my most recent academic track record wasn't stellar, I failed a college course as well.

Well, you must of had pretty good "everything else" to make up for that, right? haha

I must have done something right. I either had an A or an F/D depending on if I cared. Don't be like me kids. Suck it up and drive on :thumb:
