As stealth mentioned, the academy we re-weigh your unweighted gpa. This is where your senior schedule, school profile and such come into play. This way the academy can take all the different schools that have such diverse curriculums, and turn them all into apples so they can be compared equally. Some schools have honors classes, some have AP classes, some have the IB program, some like some rural schools where I live have only basic classes. Obviously it's not the students fault if a school doesn't offer advanced classes and they can't take any.
This is why you send unweighted gpa to he academy. And don't panick if your gpa doesn't get changed higher because you took advanced classes. It's part of a formula and algorhythm. My son was in the IB program and had a 4.0 gpa for all 4 years of high school. It was unweighted. When the academy calculated, it was still a 4.0.
