Hello to all from Wisconsin, about a half hour away from the Green Bay Packer Stadium - but I'm not a cheesehead.

I just started reading the forums tonight for the first time and found it fascinating. Thank you all!

A couple of years ago I told my son when he was in high school, "whatever you do, don't join the Navy." (I was an Army brat and my first husband was a Navigation ET submariner). So, of course my son began his Navy career last December. He seems to be enjoying military life (never complains to me) and he is studying to be an Avionic Technician before shipping out to Iwa Kuni MCAS in Japan next spring.

Soooo... now my 16 year old daughter is interested in a military career and would like to pursue ROTC. (I'm being careful about what I tell her not to do!).

She is a Junior in high school and has done very well in the math and sciences. She is leaning to the Air Force ROTC, but the Navy and Army ROTC programs are a consideration too. She has asked for some help in trying to figure the application process and study choices. She is interested in biomedical engineering or nursing with a minor in German. Her long term goal is to be an Emergency Services doctor, but wants to have work experience first before heading to medical school.

And so the learning curve begins for our family. My first very beginner forum questions are:

Is there a cheat sheet for all the acronyms used in the forums?

Is there a link to learn more about what the boards mean?

Thanks for reading my post. Nancy

Welcome to the forums! I also live about a half hour from Lambeau, which means we could be neighbors or we could live an hour apart. (I live due South). I'm sure you can find the information that you're looking for here.
