This forum has been a great resource since joining in 2021, never felt like I could post until DS was closer to it all. He made his intentions known in 6th grade, and have tried since then to be ready for it all. He is a rising junior and it is his hope to be at USAFA or USNA. He's attended Summer STEM and will be applying to SLEs next summer. Almost PO1 in Sea Cadets, former CAP for 2 years. I'm a proud daughter and granddaughter of Marines. I read every post in USNA's waiting thread and as teacher am so impressed by the outstanding young men and women who desire to serve. This forum community is amazing!

Welcome! I love to see people use the Introductions forum (teachers notice everything!). Exciting times ahead.

Hi Mom. What grade/subject to you teach?

I teach medical sciences and biotechnology in a health sciences academy attached to a large high school. I thankfully have all juniors and seniors.

@Devil Doc, I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum. I teach kids how to read, write, add & subtract in 1st grade....and to love learning :) Always wanted to to end up at a university, but as a 2nd career, it has allowed for being the parent I wanted to be. Exposure to one HS teenager attitude is enough for me :) Teaching at a health sciences academy sounds like a great pipeline for students!

It’s a good life. I’d rather work with kids than most grown ups.
