Grenade!!

I have no doubt this will influence how the Dant handles the same issue at USNA.

I don’t recall where I read, but havent the USNA cases been adjudicated already?

I had the opportunity to meet a current cadet recently who had been asked to repeat a year at USMA for a different reason. He sheepishly said to me " it might sound a little cheesy, but having gone through this I have learned so much more about duty and honor and why trust is so critical in the Army". I have a lot of respect for his journey and for the institution for giving him a chance to self-discover some wisdom on that path

Does this impact how many incoming freshman's they accept now? Do they have a chance of taking my DS spot - we are still waiting for an acceptance.

Not really - the number of slots offered = the difference between current regimental numbers and what they are congressionally authorized to have + a factor for planned attrition. They are already on campus, so it is a net neutral impact.

The taxpayers foot the bill for another year? Not a bad deal for those Cadets.
Not really. They put off commissioning for another year.
Also, while I’m not familiar with these cases, those in such situations have additional training requirements.

Does anyone what it means to "repeat a year"? Do they have to re-take the same classes, so they'll essentially be Plebes again? Or do they now have more time in their schedule because they've already completed most of the first-year courses?

Regardless, I guess the Class of 2025 is now +51 members and the Class of 2024 is -73 members?

I'm not sure how this works out as far as class size, but this happened with the class of 2023, not 2024.

Just curious what makes you say that? Do you have some information that the Class of 2024 has lost more than in previous years?
I have no specific statistics--but 2024 had the most New Cadets and new Plebes outprocess in years. C/o 2023 has also lost a bunch to not affirming.

It happened before class of 2024 arrived, so c/o 2024 is the gaining class I'd guess.

Imagine what the parents, family, friends, coaches, teachers thought and felt about the cadet they know being involved in this, especially if the cadet had been sent off with all the usual celebratory joy and hoopla.
Honestly, if my son was ever involved in something like this, I would think I failed terribly as a parent, and I would feel that my son perhaps didn't deserve to be there.
