Where I am from, we have a program called GT (gifted and talented). In my county, GT and AP classes hold the same weight for qpa. The progression of difficulty for classes starts with standard, followed by honors, and then GT and AP. If anyone has any experience with this system, how does West Point or colleges in general compare GT classes to honors classes. It concerns me because GT classes are considerably harder than honors classes and it would be disappointing for them to be perceived as the same, even though I am working hard to maintain good grades in GT classes while I could be easily getting good grades in honors classes. I'm sorry if this matter seems trivial compared to what other applicants are having to deal with right now. It's just something that has been on my mind for a while now.

Next year I plan to take AP chem and AP world history. The only AP class offered to freshmen is AP bio, but I missed out on that opportunity because of grades I received in my last year of middle school. By my junior year, most if not all of my classes will be AP. Thank you for the advice jagger19.

This info might be on the school profile which the guidance department of your HS produces and updates periodically. You could request a copy from your counselor and see what it says.

Make sure you look at West Point's Admissions page and understand exactly what WP looks for. West Point (and other top colleges) want to see that you have challenged yourself with the most difficult classes your school has to offer that you can make an A or B in. Be sure and read the "stickies" at the top of the USMA forum page as well ^^^.
When you apply to West Point you will be asked for recommendations from a math, English, and science teacher--science can only be physics or chemistry. You will also be asked for a recommendation from a PE teacher.
