This may be a silly question but I figure its a nice mix up from the monotony. So I really like shaving my head, I have a nice Oster buzzer that I got for my b-day. At what point would I be allowed to shave my own head? Thanks y'all

A-Day. If you try to do it during Beast, you will A. not have enough time and B. make a mess. Why you would shave your own head instead of getting a haircut from the barbers that you automatically pay for each month is another question.

Or you can rock the overflow. Just be prepared to dodge the snipers out there

And C) create unwanted attention.

After A-day, many cadets find it useful to have a way to trim neck hair, around the ears, etc for inspections to be able to skip trying to get a haircut that week.

If you are lucky you'll have a prepster roomie, they are experts at this type of timesaving and taught DS.

You'll have to report back around spring semester as a plebe and let us know if you still wear it that short! Most are ready to push the limits! (Flow!!)

Though some buzz it before MIADS like Airborne & Air Assault so they don't have to deal with it and due to the heat!

As a plebe do you have to have your hair "high-and-tight"? How does that all work, just curious?

You have to have your hair within the Army standard. There are no special haircut rules for plebes

Other than the initial mandatory buzz for Males on R-day, or was that dropped as well for 2016?

Although I can't speak for what the rules were for CBT this past year, during my Beast, new cadets received several buzz cuts during the summer. Once you transition from new cadet to plebe, you can start to make your own choices.

DS calls it his concentration camp look, captured for all to see on his Mil I'D!
