DS is working on his USNA application and it needs a school code- and we can't find one (very small rural pacific northwest town!) THEN it says to use the code that the ACT used- and they don't have one either!

Advice?

Thank you, in advance!

I assume that this is not the preliminary application (because that doesn't ask for a school code), correct?
If he already has a candidate number and is set up in the Candidate Information System (CIS), he can send an EMail to his Admissions Counselor.

Has he already applied for nominations from his 2 senators and Representative from his district?
If he already missed those cutoff dates (and isn't planning on a Presidential nomination) then he's pretty late in the game, here.

He has applied for nominations (pursuing ASAFA, decided to try for Navy as well.) He has an interview in a week with one of our senators- excited and nervous!

Applying with Navy is a bit different than Air Force- navigating all the differences is a bit confusing. Oh well, we shall persist.

I will find out for sure if he has a CIS. He has done his preliminary application, now I guess we have to wait for the mail man to deliver the candidate booklet.

*swimming head*

We will get through this! WoOt! Excited to be on this journey with you all!

(I can only comment on how the USNA system works)

The Candidate Information System (CIS) is the online user-interface for the application and admission process.
If he has already done a preliminary application, then most likely he has a candidate number.
He uses this number (along with his first and last name and the last 4 digits of his SSN) to login to the CIS.

Logging on to the CIS (from the USNA Admissions page, click on "Continue") will update him on what he needs to finish, in order to have his application complete.
After logging in, "Application Status" is the first thing on the list.

Sounds like it is asking for the school code associated with his h.s. I would have him ask his h.s. guidance counselor. Every h.s. should have a unique code that applicants input when taking the ACT/SAT tests.

I agree with this. When our DD was going through this process, she was the first graduating class of our new school. The school had to be assigned this code as the students starting testing for the ACT/SAT.

So, yeah, our school is so small and underfunded that we don't even have a counselor anymore. We'll email the principal and hope for the best.

Thank you all for the help!

The closest ACT he has taken was almost 2 hours from here- SAT is only about 30 minutes from home. *sigh. Rural life!
