June 26, 1898, the man that has been called a Marine's Marine was born. In my opinion, the greatest general this country ever produced, and a true friend to the working warriors (the enlisted man). I would have followed him to hell and back, a lot of Marines did. Thank you for your service.

I always found it interesting that the Marines idolize a general and not an NCO.

General Puller started out as a Private in the USMC and worked his way up. That is one of the reasons the enlisted love him. When he was made a General, he had a Sergeant pin his Star on. There are plenty of Enlisted Marines to look up to, but General Puller was just a cut above.

At his home in Virginia, General Puller had a sign out front, that said "Any Marine Welcome". It is well known that he loved his enlisted men, and that he knew every person in his command by their first name.

Don't soldiers idolize Gen Patton? I know that I do and always have.

And General Puller needed more Women at Gualdacanal and Okinawa? I think he is turning in his grave. Patton has always been a hero of mine also. McArthur, although a show off, was a great strategist. Times change but not always for the better in the Military. Social experiments in the military initiated by the Government can create a lot of problems. We will see what the future brings.

SgtMaj Daly gets his share of love too (as does GySgt Basilone and a couple others I can think of).
