Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. David H. Berger and Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Troy E. Black, present the 2019 Marine Corps birthday message celebrating 244 years of our Corps. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Rick Robinson and Staff Sgt. James R. Skelton) :
2019 CMC Birthday Message

At 5:25, a well-deserved shout out to Navy Corpsman. Bless you, because we all consider you Marines, and you know what that means.

From Tun Tavern on November 10th, 1775 to wherever you are on November 10, 2019, Happy 244th Birthday, Devil Dogs!

"We stole the Eagle from The Air Force, the anchor from The Navy, and the rope from The Army.
On the seventh day when God rested, we overran his perimeter - stole the globe - and we've been running the show ever since."

I have to post last year's message as well, because some of the visuals were breathtaking. Every 'Dant puts his stamp on these, and I think General Neller deserves a shout out for that one, as well: 2018 CMC Birthday Message

Why am I imaging a birthday cake with a Crayola theme :) !

Seriously, Happy Birthday to all Marines, young and old.....glad you are on our side !

I am all for weeklong birthday celebrations! But on Sunday, November 10, I will be pouring a large portion of my favorite bourbon and toasting all those Marines who came before, those who are currently serving, and those who will serve in the future.

Semper Fi!

Ahhhh.... you just want some bourbon with your crayons. :D

I saw a video by Kyle Carpenter yesterday. He's on his way to 2 different birthday balls. One is in Las Vegas and I don't recall where the other is. Some Teufel Hunden are lucky dogs, although he certainly paid a high price for the right.

Happy Birthday Marines!

“The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!”

― Eleanor Roosevelt, first lady of the US

Kyle Carpenter was in The United Center last night, before the start of the Blackhawks game. Hawks won 5-2. Woo hoo!

Did they call him out or something? Or did you just happen to see him.

He was there on the red carpet, before the National Anthem. They played the Vancouver Canucks last night, so it was O Canada followed by The Star Spangled Banner. There was also a female Marine from WWII there. I wanted to hug her.

I lived the best of both worlds in 26 years squeezing in four ships, three times with the Marines, instructor duty, and two HQ commands. I left my only hospital a little early to go back green side. I felt equally comfortable in wash khakis and cammies. My time with the Marines helped shape my character and I’m thankful my son has continued in the family business as a US Marine.

Semper Squid-elis and Happy Birthday

I could not agree more, brother.

I miss them, and I think about them often.

Mostly when I share an emotional moment with my wife or DS, it makes me think of them and wish they could be here, experiencing what I am. Of course I think why them and not me, but I just don't dwell on it anymore. It is what it is, and I'm better for having known them.
