Though the nation is grappling with some serious and challenging issues right now, I still would choose no other place. In some countries of the world, demonstrators for social justice or to protest a policy would be taken to a “re-education camp.” Our freedom of speech lets us say some of the worst things (sadly), but we take many of our liberties and freedoms in our society for granted. As I look at global COVID stats, and I see some countries who report very low stats, and see what countries they are, I wonder if they have just whisked the sick people away, never to be seen again, or repressed all independent reporting.

On a light-hearted note, enjoy the below and decide which one you like best. Credit for pulling these links out of various archives goes to a contact at the USNA Foundation.

Thanks for the links and Happy Independence Day. We are the greatest nation. Not because we are a superior people, but because of our freedoms.

Our warts, scars, and terrible stains are many, and we still are trying to get it right, but I agree that there is no place I would rather be.

This Sailor has stood watch on my porch 24/7/365 for many years. I take the flag (which my wife replaced with this new one a few days ago) inside at sunset, or there about, since I don't have it illuminated at night.
