Have any LOA's gone out for the class of 2019?

I don't know if that is standard procedure but my son's LOA also had a personalized note from Dean S.B. Latta (note didn't pertain to summer session). Otherwise everything on hold until MOC (hopefully more than one) notifies my son he was selected to be interviewed.

Continued good luck to everyone!

When DS received his LOA last year, the Dean wrote a personalized note as well: "your leadership at school coupled with a great job at summer seminar make you a great fit for USNA. See you soon!"

Standard procedure? Who knows, but it was a nice touch and meant a lot to the kid.

Good luck going forward.

Although it is widely said that not attending NASS won't hurt your chances, it appears that being accepted for NAPS certainly can help your chances of getting an LOA (and therefore, indirectly, an appointment) - at least based on these anecdotes.

My son didn't get into NASS either. He received an appointment before Thanksgiving last year and is currently a Plebe.

True story: I was also not invited to attend NASS. Two classmates of mine, however, were. I received an LOA in October, 2013 followed shortly by an appointment. The two classmates who were invited to and did attend NASS? Neither received an LOA or an Appointment for that matter. So you really can't make any assumptions about NASS. It's more for the benefit of the attendee similar to a CVW.

My DD did not attend NASS but received LOA from Navy a couple of weeks ago.

Astef67...since the USNA really only looks at the Math and English portion of the SAT, did you mean a 1600? My DS got a Composite SAT of 2100 and had a 1400 combined Math and English but has not received an LOA.

My son's Class of 2017 LOA did not have a personalized note on it from Dean Latta, and he also did NOT attend NASS-- went to Coast Guard AIM instead. Waiting to see what will happen for my Class of 2019 hopeful. He was awarded a Naval 4 year ROTC scholarship (today!), but still waiting for word from USNA. He, too, did not attend NASS, but instead, went to West Point Summer Seminar. I don't really think there's a way to predict who or why. Each year, each candidate, each admissions board is different.

Nothing by mail --he received an email letting him know that he had received the scholarship. Apparently something will be coming in the mail in about two weeks, but the initial "congratulations" was via computer.

Has anyone gotten a LOA dated after the Sept 18th?

Did your DD get an email prior to receiving her LOA or did the LOA just arrive by mail?

clarification

Sorry, I'm new to this & tried to copy a post from about 4 weeks ago.

The original post was that a LOA was received around Sept 26 that was dated the 18th (about a week between date & receipt)

My DD didn't receive it - it was from a ealier post - I was just trying to find out if another "round" of LOAs went out since mid Sept

Word on the street is far more fewer LOAs will be going out this year. There has already been been far fewer LOAs handed out this year than at this point in time last year.
Class size will be smaller than in the past (again).
As we have seen by example, a candidate who is fully qualified and has a principal nomination does not have to be offered an appointment. So if someone meets this criteria, it still isn't a guarantee.

Facts please

One of the more frustrating aspects of the internet and forums such as these is the lack of factual data. When a statement about smaller class size and fewer LOAs is made it's easy to take this as fact. Unless you're speaking on behalf of the admissions board I'm inclined to take your comments as rumor. Was any official announcement made regarding your statement? Thanks in advance.

The respondent is a USNA BGO who clearly states "the word on the street". He is not quoting the admissions office and while his information may be anecdotal, his sources are certainly better and more well informed than anything you or I could find anywhere else.
