Have the majority already been appointed?

would it be too crazy of an idea to think that some have not been reviewed by the Board yet.
It is not too crazy...a fellow poster on this forum, and a friend, had the occasion to speak to an admissions officer two days ago on an unrelated matter and during the discussion asked the same thing. He was told that not all had been reviewed yet.

Update to the previous numbers....200 should of been taken out (difference between class size -- 1200 and offers -- 1400) of the overall national pool since they declined. The number of the class size doesn't change -- ~1200 (~950 of which do not come from national pool)

I hate to throw a damper on this, but I read else where on this forum that letters are stating the class of 2019 will have a targeted 1132 accepted appointments which is down from 1191 for class of 2018. That could affect all those calculations and "crazy mom math".

This crazy mom is not discourage about 60, because that is in the "~tilda~" part of the original BGO calculation. Don't get this crazy mom started on significant figures!! Especially when it relates to hoping her DS gets his dream offer.

Me and my DS work on a singular theory that keeps us in check, NO ONE knows who will get a BFE or a TWE until they actually get it.

I would think everyone has been reviewed by the board to determine whether they are scholastically qualified. That doesn't mean a decision on whether to offer an appointment, NAPS/Foundation, waitlist or send a TWE has been made for every candidate.

My TWE said 1165 inductees.

The number of inductees and the number of "appointments" varies a bit due to international students. They count as plebes but don't directly count against appointments. IOW, a certain number of slots each year are set aside for international students. Because they are funded by their home countries and won't end up serving in the US Armed Forces, they aren't directly considered in the appointment decisions. For example, last year there were around 1172 US appointees and then a couple dozen or so international students, bringing the total class size close to 1200 (my numbers aren't exact, but hopefully you get the point:)).

CLASS OF 2018 (as of June 30, 2014):

Men.................. 889

Women............. 303

Total.............. 1,192 (Includes 13 international students from 12 different countries)

BTW- last year 83% of women accepted their appointment while 86% of the men took their offer.

Ok my TWE letter says "...with a small incoming class size of approximately 1165 students...".

so 1165 from approximately 1365 offers of appointment if stats from last year are comparable to this year and that is a big if.

I guess that's new to the TWE.. I looked at my first TWE and it gives no indication as to how many MIDN there would be in the incoming class.. I can't find my TWE from last year, but I remember it being the same letter. Sorry to hear about it though.

Filling out apps to other colleges is hard. I'm still in the game, but I just have almost zero motivation to go anywhere else..

Still waiting here. DD had a plan B already set, which is a large merit scholarship to Alabama. Today she was accepted to UVA which makes plan B1 and B2 now operational :) At least she has some good options, but this waiting is still so hard.

Noticed that USAFA had a recent wave of appointments this past week / the roll call of appointees went from 52 to 100+ in just over a one week period. Wonder if USNA is due for a similar wave?

I wondered who would notice, USMA has not had a wave as well.

@TV4caster, congratulations! DS accepted to UVA as well today, where DD is a student. It's a great school with a terrific community.
