Have you ever thought of?

SMEAC-Situation-Mission-Execution-Admin and Logistics-Command and Communications

CC- Cadet Candidate at USMAPS (West Point Prep)
CCBT-Cadet Candidate Basic Training

Don't forget to add:
DS and DD, new members always have to ask what they mean.

PCS = Permanent Change of Station
DITY = ??

DITY = Do IT Yourself = move at least some of your own household goods and get reimbursed by the government. Can be a real money maker. Then again, it doesn't work so well for all of those overseas moves some of us have had.

On the subject of PCS - a Permanent Change of Station is a full move as opposed to a TDY = Temporary Duty assignment.

The use of the acronym 'TDY' has sometimes amused me. We have a lot of friends who are Gov't workers/contractors and they would always say they are going on TDY and be gone to Washington or Houston for a few days. A few days is TDY? ! It sounds to me that 'Temporary Duty' would be longer than a couple of days.

TDY can be anything from a couple of days to a couple of months. I'm probably going to get the number wrong, but I think TDY is usually any trip less than 20 weeks. It is Duty because you are required to do it. It is temporary because you aren't "permanently" moving your household there.

The important thing about being on TDY is that you are paid a per diem to cover your temporary travel expenses (lodging and food) in addition to transportation costs while still receiving your regular pay to maintain your permanent home. Frugal habits while traveling can mean that TDY is a money maker.

Thanks for taking the time to put this idea together tpg. I never would have been to do it all.

Hey tpg, I know you are probably busy during this time of year, but don't forget about this acronym list. If you want, one of us can take it over for you. No hurry, but I didn't want this thread to get too close to the bottom and get forgotten. The list is looking like it is pretty close so it shouldn't take much more work.

Brian

coolsailing,

Thank you so much for finishing this up. It looks excellent. I am not the master of military acronyms, but It has all of the ones that I wondered about when I first joined. If everyone else agrees, maybe we can have TN make this a sticky.

Later,

Brian

Hey, TN. Would you mind going ahead and "sticking" this? The list is looking really good thanks to the hard work of tpg and coolsailing as well as contributions by many others. If anyone has more additions to the list we will still be able to add them correct?

Thank you,

Brian

What does TWE dtand for. I am assuming it is a letter that tells a candidate that they have not been accepted into SA. Just wondering.
Thanks
Onee
