I submitted the app January 19th (When it actually opened) and I've gotten increasingly worried because I haven't heard back at all.
The website says it's pending so the app did go through, idk if this long wait is a good thing or a bad thing.

I was denied last year in April. I received appointment last week. While SLE is a great experience try not to stress over whether or not you'll get in.

So you reapplied to USMA after taking a year at a 4 year college? What have you been studying this year? Are you in a ROTC program?

Thank you.

Don't put too much emphasis on the SLE acceptance. My daughter went to SLE at USNA, West Point and USAFA and was invited to several candidate weekends at USNA. She received six nominations to SA (3 WP, 2 USAFA, 1 USNA). As of today, she has been rejected by USNA; still awaiting word from the other 2...Not looking good at this rate. Point being... as amazing as an experience as she had at her SLE's, they by no means helped her receive an appointment no more than not attending an SLE would hinder you from receiving one. So don't stress it. I do hope you get to experience it though. For her, it solidified her desire to serve in the military one way or the other.

Yeah I understand that yet I still what to have that first hand experience and see if this is what I want to do for the long run before I have to commit fully

Last year my son did not get into SLE. I checked and his denial letter was posted to his portal on April 13. He was so disappointed. He had looked forward to attending SLE since 8th grade when he first learned about the camp. I am sorry you haven't heard back yet, I remember how we felt waiting to hear, it was so disappointing. You bring up a good point though. SLE is a terrific experience for kids that are uncertain if they really want to attend a SA or not. In fact, there was a classmate of my son's that actually did go to SLE last summer, and as it turned out, the experience helped him realize he did not want to attend a service academy at all and would pursue civilian colleges instead. Did you apply to other SA programs? Maybe there is still time to apply to the other summer programs at the other service academies? Good luck.

I'll have my DD check her portal from last year and see when her acceptance letter was dated. If there is one thing we have learned in the last 4 years from the day she applied to STEM at USNA to today as she awaits an appointment is that the military does EVERYTHING at their own time with no rhyme or reason to civilians [emoji16]. Hang in there.

Sorry it took me so long to get back but I checked my DD acceptance letter from SLE last year and it was dated April 14th. So don't give up hope!!!
