Heart Attacks abound

That's funny! I was going to mention that game but decided against. You get first dibs.
I also remember the press conference (but cannot find the video) where Elway was quoted as saying

"They ruined my last game as a college player. It was a very bittersweet ending. I did not want it to end this way. It's something I'll have to live with for the rest of my life." -- John Albert Elway, Jr., November 20, 1982

It is hard to argue who showed poorer sportsmanship, Elway or the Seahawks who started the scrum at the end of the Super Bowl...

Carroll's call was not that bad. The Seahawks needed time more than anything else and an uncompleted pass stops the clock giving you more of a chance to use the remaining downs. Had Lynch run it (highly expected) and been stopped short (highly possible) the clock could easily have run out before the all the remaining downs. The thing that screwed the pooch was the totally unexpected interception. Had the pass been completed or even uncompleted, Carroll would have looked like a master tactician-----which he is anyway along with Belichick.

Calling a pass was not bad. Typically you call a fade to you tallest receiver (who was having a career game in this situation) and if it is well covered you throw it a bit high and out of the end zone. ZERO chance for interception. Waaaaay too much traffic in the middle for that situation... Carroll got too cute.
Exactly! Why throw the ball into traffic? If they thought NE was going to be set up for the run, why throw the ball nearly over the middle where everyone is going to be?

And while the college game cited above was truly exciting, it was straight-forward football - except for the band on the field the last 20 yards to be run! :D This game had a freakishly impossible pass completion that you won't see for another 10 years and one of the worst calls in football history. :D

When I watch the Super Bowl replay, the defender jumped the route and beat the receiver. He guessed right.

Had the receiver faked inside and gone to the flat... game over.

Who's to say that you run the ball and he doesn't fumble it. He's great but not perfect, stuff happens that why we play the game.
