Height & Weight

ACN 082/19 outlines the "Pilot Program". If specifically states it is only effective (right now) from 10/01/2019-08/05/2020. It is anyone's guess if this program will become policy or permanent, but for now it is implemented CG Wide, so YES, the Academy will use it this year at least. Reading the policy in the ALCOAST, I like the idea that there are other methods other than BMI standards to be considered "Fit"! For years only the weight and BMI methods were authorized, and this did indeed cause MANY outstanding Coasties to undergo suffering, anxiety, and many even separated from service. Adding waist measurement, as well as being able to pass the PFT Test to be weight or fitness compliant is a step in the right direction.

Interesting read in link below. Does anyone know if the academy is going to follow this pilot program as well.
As Impulsive said, this pilot program will apply to current cadets at the Academy; however, applicants to the Class of 2024 will still need to meet height/weight standards (not eligible for alternate physical fitness test) as published in the Applicant Handbook in order to be appointed.
