I have been trolling this forum for a little over a year so I decided it is time to formally introduce myself! I've been active duty in the Army for close to 4 1/2 years as a Chaplain Assistant. I am originally from the beautiful shores of western Michigan, but I am currently deployed to Afghanistan. West Point has been my dream since high school and I have applied for the past three years but haven't been able to get accepted. Ever since I have first felt the calling to West Point I had to face many different obstacles, but each year I push through them and get a little bit closer. Right now my disqualifier is that I am too old for the class of 2015 by 60ish days. I was bummed out about this for a while until a few months ago I read about the new Defense Authorization Act and how it would raise the age limit from 22 to 26 if they can pass it. Right now the bill is in limbo but I take it as one more sign that tells me that there is still hope! For now though I will keep growing and developing myself personally and professionally, so that if the bill does pass I will be in a great position to try again! Regardless of the outcome, I love the Army and will become a Comissioned Officer one way or the other. My passion is to make a positive impact in the Army, and to lead, mentor, and care for soldiers! That is just a small snippet of who I am and what I am set out to do! My thoughts and prayers go out to all those who desire to, currently are, or formerly have served our great Nation and to those who support them! Blessings!
